In junior high, I met my second dad. I remember walking in the gym for first period the first day of sixth grade, and Coach Hardin said " Ready Cano?!" I smiled and said "I'm always ready!" He laughed and said "It's gonna be a good year!" I was excited!!!
Throughout the years, Coach Hardin became my best friend, role model, family, support system, and my coach! He believed in me more than anyone else, he pushed me the hardest I had EVER been pushed, and he let me know that anything was possible as long as I gave it my all. I know it was junior high, but it meant so much more to me.
My dad aggravated me to the point where I didn't even want to care about sports anymore. Our relationship was frustrating! Coach Hardin completed the promises that my dad would break...
A few years later, I hear that he has been diagnosed with cancer and I felt that I needed to support him the same way he had done for me! He is a strong, amazing, survivor. He has been through a lot and to this day he still has good character and strong faith. To Coach Hardin, I love you for everything you've done for me...
